Sooner or later, every birder visits the Sunshine State. The subtropical habitat provides a home for several species found nowhere else in the United States, from Snail Kite and Herring to the Purple Gallinule and the majestic Bald Eagle.

It is noted that around 516 species of birds have been recorded.

I grew up having a love for birds. Our dad regularly took us birdwatching as kids. We even had our own quaker monk parrot as part of our family for many years. Birds are some of the most incredible animals God put on this earth and they never cease to amaze me!

One of my personal favorites is the osprey. Probably because they love fishing as much as I do!
It doesn’t take long to find an osprey that is on the hunt for an afternoon “snack”. And here in Florida, we get to watch the entire osprey hunt unfold. It’s a one of a kind experience.

When you book a birding trip with Hurricane Fishing Charters, be ready to get some incredible shots with your camera, and experience views that will be so close, you may not need to use your binoculars (but always have a pair on standby)!

Below are just some of the many species of birds found around the waterways and wetlands of Florida, all of which were taken by a local friend. So there are many to see and more to find!
